R&D.TRACE / DRAFTING
SINCE 2018
OUR STORY

Eight years of building the tools we could not buy.

The elevation drawing itself behind this text is the point. Repetitive drafting is exactly the kind of work we started automating in 2018, and never stopped.

01 / WHY WE DO THIS

Our industry does not slow down. From day one, we decided not to be left behind by it.

BIM, manufacturing logic, and construction technology move fast. Tools change, standards shift, and clients expect more every year. A company that only sells hours eventually gets outrun by the ones that build. We chose, early and deliberately, to keep pace with the front edge of the technology in our field rather than chase it from behind.

That choice comes from a simple belief: progress is not optional. To adapt is to survive, and to advance is to grow. We treat every tool, every workflow, and every process as something that can be better tomorrow than it is today.

It is not about technology for its own sake. It is about staying useful to the people who depend on us, in an industry that rewards those who keep moving and quietly retires those who stop.

Better than yesterday. Every day.

02 / R&D 2018 TO 2026

Eight years, two waves.

FIRST TOOL TO FULL PLATFORM
Wave one. Standalone internal tools.
2018

R&D team forms. First Revit add-in ships.

The founding rule arrives with it: model the same thing three times, and we build a tool for it. That single Revit add-in became the seed of a 75+ tool suite.

2019

Polaris database begins.

A central data layer for projects, estimates, and delivery. Polaris becomes the spine that every later tool plugs into.

2020

Build It Now (BIN) begins.

Locate a project, and BIN pulls the local ordinances, permitting requirements, and building parameters for that site. You see what you can build immediately, without waiting on the building department.

2021

BEP Creator, first version.

An app that generates a standardized BIM Execution Plan from project answers, removing manual document setup at project start.

2022

Revit suite formalized. BIN paused.

Years of scattered add-ins are consolidated into one maintained toolset. BIN is shelved while priorities shift toward the platform.

2023

Estimaster begins.

Standardized estimation in line with TBF project history. The work that took three estimators starts collapsing toward one reviewer.

Wave two. Consolidation onto BIM Genesis.
2024

BIM Genesis platform begins. Quote Builder built.

One platform to house the tools, talk to Polaris, and serve clients directly. Quote Builder is the first client-facing tool to land on it.

2025

Genesis goes live. ProTrack and Quote Builder ship.

Live at tbf-tools.com. Contract Maker and Co-Sign enter development, BEP Creator and the BIM Repository migrate onto Genesis, and BIN is revived.

2026

Consolidation continues.

The remaining standalone tools move onto one platform and one database, with subscription access and AI-assisted estimation on the near horizon.
